Today was our last chapter meeting of the semester. As we discussed Diana's story, I was reminded just how much I needed to slow down and take in the now. It is very easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of life and lose track of the present. To bring the girls some peace and to help them focus on the present as we go into finals week, we did a mindfulness activity. Each girl was given a blank outline of a person and were asked to color the person to represent themselves. Once colored, I asked the girls to write notes on the paper. These notes could be reminders to themselves, ways to help them stay present, things that make them laugh, or ways God finds us beautiful. The big question of the night was: why is it so hard to let go and let God? This semester has taught me so many things like how to lead a group of girls, how to be a better christian, and how to be a better friend. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring Delight to Memphis and to encourage so many other girls who needed a place to call home on campus. I am thankful for the girls who came to our meetings week after week, who were vulnerable and grew into stronger women of God. Being the team director and founder of University of Memphis's Delight chapter has been the biggest blessing I could have ever dreamed of, and I couldn't be more thankful. I pray that everyone does well on their finals, and hopefully we will see you on the study day! Check back in August for updates on next semester!!! Have a great summer!
